The tournament team is a more competitive experience than rec league. These teams travel to nearby cities (usually within 60 miles) along with one possible further away/overnight tournament (approx. 125 miles) to play against other tournament teams. Tournament teams exist for 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. Tournaments are usually over the weekend. Most teams participate in 4-6 tournaments over the weekends from May through August.
The intent is to evaluate each 12U and 14U eligible player during the prime time of their softball season. The skills they have gained during the year would provide us with their best performance. The assessments will help aide in the team formation process so that we can best place each player on a team that matches their skill level. Prior year coaches' feedback along with the survey results from the families also are considered. Forming teams is not an easy task and a lot of factors weigh into the final team announcement. Some of the primary factors include: total number of girls for both east and west, appropriate pitching and catching skills for each team, team size, and experienced coach volunteers. The registration will confirm your daughter’s commitment to join a DGSA team for the season.
We host our Fire on the Fox tournaments each year. We ask each family to work two shifts per player (field work and concessions). Parent volunteers are extremely crucial to make these tournaments a success. There will be a volunteer penalty of $150 per shift if you do not complete the mandatory volunteer shifts for your player.
Note: There is an option to pay the registration fees via a payment plan with a down payment upfront and 3 remaining payments in January, February, and March.
No Full Refunds after registration closes. A pro-rated, board approved, refund may be available from the close of registration to the start of the season. Absolutely no refunds after the first tournament.
