Summer League
From late April through July, DGSA offers a fun and competitive Recreational Softball League for girls of all skill levels. The league provides an increasingly competitive softball environment to help the athletes prepare for high school softball. A great way to build skills, teamwork, and friendships!
Eligibility
The player must attend a public or private school in the De Pere or West De Pere School Districts; or reside in De Pere.
All players must compete within their appropriate age division.
Playing outside an age division is only allowed in rare cases and must be approved by the Board of Directors.

8U: Sept 1, 2016 – Aug 31, 2018
10U: Sept 1, 2014 – Aug 31, 2016
12U: Sept 1, 2012 – Aug 31, 2014
14U and above: Sept 1, 2008 – Aug 31, 2012

Equipment and Uniform
Player to Provide:
- Personal glove
- Batting helmet with a face mask
- Fielding mask (optional at 6U)
Provided by DGSA:
- Team shirts for players and coaches
- Balls and catching equipment
- Limited batting helmets and bats available for use if needed
Refund Policy
No full refunds after registration closes.
A pro-rated refund may be considered between registration close and the start of the season, subject to Board approval.
Volunteer Requirement
Our concession stand is open on game nights throughout the week, and each Rec League family is required to volunteer for one shift per child. These shifts are essential to keep things running smoothly. A sibling may complete a volunteer shift on behalf of your family, provided they are at least 14 years old.
Please note: A $150 penalty per missed shift will be assessed if mandatory volunteer requirements are not met.
Fundraising
Every player helps support DGSA by selling raffle calendars—10 for summer league players. Each ticket costs just $10, and proceeds go toward:
- Park and facility improvements
- Player development programs
- Enhancing the overall experience for our athletes
League Details
6U
Season: Two weeks of practices start late April. Games May through mid-July.
Days & Times: Wednesdays 5:00–6:15 PM or 6:15–7:30 PM
Game Details:
- 15 minutes of warm-ups, 60-minute game
- Coach pitch 5 balls; if needed, players use a tee after coach pitches.
- Games are not scored, and outs are not counted.
- Teams typically go through their lineup 2-3x per game.
8U
Season: Two weeks of practices start late April. Games May through mid-July.
Days & Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays; 5:00–6:15 PM or 6:15–7:30 PM
Practices: teams combine for a large-group practice; tournament team players practice separately with their team.
Game Details:
- 15 minutes of warm-ups, 60-minute game
- First half of the season is machine pitch; second half is kid pitch.
- Wrap up the summer with a league tournament.
10U/12U/14U and above
Season: Practices start in late April, with games May - July. DGSA joined Fox River Girls Rec Softball League, to include surrounding community rec league teams.
Days & Times: Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00 PM or later
Practices: held at Optimist Park
Games: may be played in Allouez, Ashwaubenon, De Pere, Green Bay or Howard.
