12U Assessments
For any players who are eligible to play at the 12U level for the next season and have the drive and passion to continue to excel their softball career, you will need to do the following:
- Register for the 2026 Season. De Pere Girls Softball Association | Tournament Team Softball
- Attend the mandatory Assessment on Monday August 3rd.
- Makeup night is Monday August 10th.
- Location: Optimist Park (801 Cook St. De Pere)
- 5:00: Registration at Field 3.
- 5:30 - 7:30 pm assessments.
- Pitchers and catchers will need to stay later to assess for those specific positions.
There are no cuts at the 12U level. The assessments are to help formulate teams based upon skill level. Besides performance, teams are also assessed based upon game mentality, specific skilled position needs (pitchers/catchers), and existing coaches’ feedback during practice and games.
Please make every effort to attend the 08/03 assessment night. It takes a village to coordinate the many schedules of assessors, board members, and coaches to attend. If you cannot make it, please email the contact below. Deadline to register is Sunday, August 2nd.
Our organization is aligned with the USA Softball age rules which recently moved from the January 1 cutoff to September 1. For the most part, this will fall by grades (6th and 7th). Your age eligibility needs to be between 9/01/2012 - 08/31/2014 to be placed on a DGSA 12U team for the 2027 season. Players who are still 10U eligible, but want to go through the 12U assessment should register as 10U AND email the contact below to put in their request. The final decision to move up will be at the Board’s/Coach’s discretion.
As a reminder, DGSA is an organization run completely by volunteers. Not one person is paid for the time they contribute to this organization. We are created to help provide an affordable place to play softball in our very own community.
We are looking for coaches who have all or some of the following abilities:
- Experience coaching
- Game strategy
- Understand the skills needed and how to teach
- Lead our girls in a positive manner
- Good communication with the parents/teams
Our goal is to have each team with 12-13 players to maximize playtime. We can’t do it without YOU! We provide coach training from DGSA as well as paid training outside of DGSA. We have pitching materials and resources, practice drills, parent meeting and expectations, continued support by our tournament team commissioners and board throughout the season, and so much more.
Please consider registering as a coach when you sign up your daughter.
Coaches who have registered prior to assessment night are encouraged to participate in the assessments. Head coaches will be part of team formation, along with members of the DGSA Board of Directors.
